Our team designed a main-level addition that flows naturally from the dining room through a thoughtfully designed sitting area into a private primary suite for David and Susan.
A covered breezeway-style walkway provides direct access from the driveway straight into the suite, allowing them to bypass the home’s front steps entirely. Every detail, from the zero-step entry to the carefully matched flooring, was chosen to feel like a seamless, welcoming extension of the home they already loved.
A covered pad at the entrance to the addition means David and Susan can come and go comfortably in all of Portland's weather, with no steps, no barriers, just a smooth, dry path home.
The full five-foot, ADA-compliant curbless shower features a built-in bench, a hand shower on a slide bar that doubles as a grab bar, and controls positioned right at the entry, so getting in and out is always safe and effortless.
Soft LED mirrors were installed specifically to provide low-level lighting during middle-of-the-night use, reducing glare and making the bathroom genuinely safe and comfortable around the clock.
Existing flooring was carefully blended at the transition between the original home and the new addition, so the two spaces feel like one.
Set at 34 inches to adhere to ADA recommendations, with open space below for flexibility and full cabinetry on the sides for ample storage.
